JHS Crayon is an effects pedal with the sound of a 'direct-in distortion', a guitar going straight into a mixing board. The Beatles were one of the first to record this effect in 'Revolution 1' in 1968. It is one of the most recognizable and unique guitar sounds of the past 60 years. This effect pedal is based on the Colour Box. Many guitarists expressed that they would like to have one function of this pedal, the overdrive part, in a separate pedal. That has now come on the market. This Crayon has master, pre-vol, tilt knobs and a hi-pass switch. The master controls the master volume and the pre-volume sets the amount of gain from the beginning of the circuit. With this you set the drive, it goes from a nice edge of overdrive to heavy overdrive/distortion and even fuzz. Tilt is an active EQ that allows you to both add and remove high and low. This makes this pedal suitable for both guitar and bass. With the hi-pass switch you can remove low. You can choose between 200Hz or 750Hz.
